1981-1985: USAV Player indoor and outdoor (grass triples                           and beach).

1986-1987: Started the first Women’s Club team while in                             Graduate School at UT

1988-2005: Played on a number of USAV teams, traveled                             nationally and competed at USAV nationals.                               Earned 3 gold medals and 1 silver. 

1993: Started coaching for Smoky Mountain Jrs. Volleyball                           Club (SMJVC)

1996-2002: Coached at University of Tennessee, Furman                             University and Florida State summer

                      volleyball camps.  

1997-2008: Full-time director of SMJVC. Coached a myriad                           of age group teams during that tenure (12’s,                             14’s, 16’s and 18’s).

2010: Inducted into the Greater Knoxville Athletic Hall of                             Fame as a volleyball coach. 

2010 – present: Head Volleyball Coach at Oak Ridge High                              School, Oak Ridge, TN.

Brendon Cleer served as head volleyball coach at Zachary High School in Baton Rouge for 3 years.  During his tenure, his teams were district champions all 3 years and competed in the state tournament 2 of the 3 years earning a 2nd place finish.  Coach Cleer was voted district coach of the year all 3 years.  Additionally, he has coached middle school boys and girls teams and has worked for over a decade teaching volleyball skills in the classroom and encouraging boys and girls in the Knoxville area to become involved in the sport of volleyball as players, coaches, and officials.  Coach Cleer has served as assistant volleyball coach at Farragut High School for 13 years during which FHS teams have made 6 state tournament appearances.

Cedar Bluff Middle School Head Coach: Led Cedar Bluff Varsity team to a 38-5 overall season record in 2015 and a 25-3 overall season record in 2014. Led the CBMS team to a back to back post season championship in 2014 and 2015 while overseeing the Junior Varsity team to a 2014 and 2015 Post Season Tournament Championship.


In 2015, coached the varsity team to a mid-season KVA tournament championship with a tournament record of 8-2 on the weekend. In 2013 her team received 2nd place in the Knox County tournament championship. Overall record while coaching at Cedar Bluff is 86-13. 

Oversaw and directed the Volleyball Bash tournament in efforts to raise funds for the2013 AAU national volleyball team trip.


Other coaching experience includes CBFO from 2007-2012 making 8 championship appearances in the youth division.  

Was a 2 sport 4 year letter winner at Elida High School. Played on the Lima Tech college team  as well as a rec club team while attending OSU.
